September. Kolner Bucherherbst is a 4-day's festival devoted to literature. It includes a massive reading and discussion of the books, some presentations of new works and authors. It is a great time to buy an excellent book. October. German Reunification Day is a national holiday which celebrates the reunification of Germany in 1990. Throughout the city it is celebrated with dances and songs, and of course, beer. December. Christmas is probably the most important event of the year for the Germans.
